GUS Gene Quantitative Detection Kit

This product can be used for the fluorometric quantification of GUS activity. β-Glucuronidase (GUS) catalyzes the hydrolysis of the substrate 4-methylumbelliferyl β-D-glucuronide (4-MUG) into 4-methylumbelliferone (4-MU) and β-D-glucuronic acid. The hydroxyl group in the 4-MU molecule dissociates and, when excited by 365 nm light, emits fluorescence at 456 nm, which can be measured using a fluorescence spectrophotometer (or a fluorescence microplate reader). After the catalytic reaction is complete, the fluorescence value is measured, and the concentration of the product 4-MU can be calculated using a 4-MU standard curve. Therefore, we can quantitatively detect GUS activity based on the amount of fluorescent substance produced per unit mass of total plant protein within a given time.
