ISP6 Medium

The 7 types of media recommended by the International Streptomyces Project (referred to as ISP Medium) are mainly used for the isolation, cultivation and characteristic observation of actinomycetes. In this medium, yeast extract, glucose, tryptone and other components provide energy sources, carbon sources and vitamins; trace metal salts supply electrolytes and minerals necessary for the growth of Streptomyces, which are also essential for many important enzymatic reactions (such as DNA replication). Other components are mainly used to maintain balanced osmotic pressure and act as buffers.
