MT Medium（with Sucrose& Agar）

MT Medium (containing sucrose and agar) is a specialized culture medium commonly used for plant anther culture and somatic embryogenesis. Its core features include a balanced nitrogen source ratio (with an appropriate proportion of ammonium to nitrate nitrogen) and an optimized combination of trace elements. By adjusting the concentrations of organic nutrients (such as inositol and vitamins) and pre-mixing sucrose (as a carbon source) with agar (as a gelling agent), it provides a solid environment suitable for anther dedifferentiation, callus formation from pollen, and induction of somatic embryos. This medium is widely applied in haploid breeding and embryological studies of crops such as tobacco and rice, particularly promoting normal development of male gametes and somatic embryos while reducing the occurrence of albino seedlings and abnormal embryos.
