The most significant characteristic of the VL6-48 strain is its efficient transformation efficiency, which makes it particularly suitable for the operation of introducing foreign (such as plasmids, gene libraries) into yeast cells. VL6-48 is of MATa type and can directly transform plasmids and fragments, with transformation: his3, trp1, ura3, lys2, ade2. Yeast artificial chromosome (YAC) is a vector that can carry very large fragments foreign DNA (100kb - 2000kb), and VL6-48 is often used for constructing and amplifying YAC libraries due to its genetic background and high transformation efficiency, which are used for genomic sequencing and research on large gene fragments. VL6-48 competent cells are made by a special process and can stored at -80℃ for 12 months. The transformation efficiency is detected by pGBKT7 plasmid (7303bp, Kan^R) >10⁵cfu/μg DNA.
