Nutrient Broth / NB Medium

Nutrient broth, also known as nutrient meat extract, is a conventional bacterial culture medium used for the subculture and cultivation of bacteria. The yeast extract and peptone in nutrient broth provide nitrogen sources, B vitamins, amino acids, and other growth factors for microbial growth, while sodium chloride maintains osmotic pressure. Nutrient agar is suitable for the growth of bacteria with high nutritional demands and is not suitable for fastidious microorganisms. It is used for counting, isolating, and enriching, while also providing high nutrition for the preparation of special culture media; it is also used for microbiological testing of food, milk, and dairy products.
