TTC Nutrient Agar Medium
Used to determine the total number of bacteria. Peptone and beef extract provide nitrogen sources, vitamins, amino acids, and carbon sources; sodium chloride can maintain a balanced osmotic pressure; agar is the solidifying agent for the medium; most bacteria can reduce TTC, resulting in easily identifiable red colonies, and TTC can also slow down the growth of certain bacteria.
