This kit is used for detecting the expression of the LacZ reporter gene in the EGY48 yeast one-hybrid system; when an interaction occurs, the LacZ reporter gene is expressed, producing β-galactosidase, which cleaves X-gal into galactose and the dark blue substrate 5-bromo-4-chloro-indoxyl.
