D-Luciferin Potassium Salt (D-Luciferin)

D-Luciferin (D-Luciferin) is the substrate of firefly luciferase, with a quantum efficiency of 0.88, which is 20 times that of Luminol. The reaction mechanism involves luciferase catalyzing the reaction of luciferin with ATP in the presence of magnesium ions, followed by its oxidation to form a dioxetane structure, emitting yellow-green light. Luciferin-luciferase luminescence is used for ATP monitoring to determine cell viability and bacterial counting. It is also used in reporter gene detection. It can be used with small animal in vivo imaging systems for in vivo fluorescence detection after labeling the LUC gene. It is also applied in in vitro analysis, high-throughput sequencing, and various contamination tests. D-Luciferin comes in three product forms: D-Luciferin (free acid), D-Luciferin potassium salt, and D-Luciferin sodium salt. All three forms are water-soluble and show no substantial differences for most applications. In plants, D-Luciferin potassium salt (D-Luciferin) is commonly used. Their excitation and emission wavelengths are 328 nm and 533 nm, respectively.
