Ampicillin Sodium Storage Solution (100mg/ml Sterile)
Ampicillin Sodium Storage Solution (100mg/ml Sterile)
Ampicillin is a beta-lactam antibiotic belonging to the penicillin family. It is also sensitive to beta-lactamase, which can hydrolyze the beta-lactam ring of ampicillin. Ampicillin has a broad-spectrum inhibitory effect on Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, and anaerobes. Its antibacterial mechanism involves interfering with the activity of penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). PBPs participate in the final step of peptidoglycan synthesis and can catalyze the formation of pentaglycine cross-links between alanine and lysine residues. These cross-links maintain the integrity of the cell wall and support normal bacterial growth. Additionally, ampicillin exhibits bactericidal activity only against actively growing Escherichia coli.
