Timentin/Timentin Storage Solution (200mg/mL Sterile)
Timentin/Timentin Storage Solution (200mg/mL Sterile)
Timentin solution produced by Purint is an antibiotic specifically used as an Agrobacterium inhibitor in plant tissue culture. After filtration and sterilization, it can be directly added to the culture medium. Timentin is composed of ticarcillin sodium and clavulanate potassium, in a ratio of 15:1. Ticarcillin is a penicillin-type bactericidal agent, while clavulanate is a potent irreversible β-lactamase inhibitor. Various Gram-positive (G+) and Gram-negative (G-) bacteria can produce β-lactamases, which can destroy penicillin before it acts on pathogens. Clavulanate restores the sensitivity to ticarcillin by blocking the bacteria's defense barrier against β-lactamase destruction. Potassium clavulanate alone has minimal antibacterial effect, but when combined with ticarcillin, this product becomes a broad-spectrum antibiotic suitable for empirical treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections. Timentin is widely used in Agrobacterium-mediated plant genetic transformation. In tissue culture experiments, it inhibits Agrobacterium with minimal effects on plant materials, especially in regeneration systems for callus induced for embryogenesis, achieving very good antibacterial effects. In tissue culture, the recommended working concentration of Timentin is 200-400 mg/L.
