0157 Chromogenic Medium
The E. coli O157:H7 chromogenic medium is an improved medium developed by Puinte Bio, used for the rapid detection of O157:H7 bacteria in food and patient stool samples. O157:H7 bacteria appear bright red, light red, or red, with no blue halo around the colonies. E. coli and coliforms appear dark blue, blue, or purple, with blue halos around the colonies; other bacteria appear blue, yellow, or colorless. This medium has high specificity and can overcome false positive and false negative results caused by SMAC medium, making it an ideal rapid detection medium
