Basta (10% Glufosinate-ammonium,for Spraying,sterile)
Glufosinate (Glufosinate ammonium) is an organophosphorus herbicide (the active ingredient in Basta), and its active component is phosphinothricin (PPT). Glufosinate mainly works by inhibiting the activity of glutamine synthetase (GS), causing nitrogen metabolism disorder, excessive ammonia accumulation in cells leading to toxicity, chlorophyll breakdown, and photosynthesis inhibition, ultimately resulting in plant death. Glutamine synthetase (GS) is the only enzyme in plants capable of detoxifying ammonia, removing the ammonia released during nitrate reduction, amino acid degradation, and photorespiration. The glufosinate acetyltransferase gene bar was isolated and cloned from the soil bacterium Streptomyces. The glufosinate acetyltransferase (PAT) encoded by this gene has high specificity for glufosinate; it catalyzes the acetylation of the free amino group of PPT, preventing PPT from inhibiting GS activity. Plants containing this gene exhibit resistance to Basta.
