YPD Medium

The YPD series of media are classified as rich media, and can also be referred to as complete media. YPD medium is composed of carefully selected peptone, yeast extract, and glucose mixed in appropriate proportions; YPDA medium is YPD medium supplemented with an appropriate amount of adenine sulfate. YPD Agar and YPDA Agar are prepared by adding agar to YPD and YPDA media, respectively, serving as solid media for plate culture. YPD series media are used for the routine cultivation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. YPDA medium is YPD medium supplemented with an appropriate amount of adenine sulfate, which can prevent yeast strains carrying ADE1 and ADE2 mutant alleles (such as Y2HGold, AH109, and Y187) from turning pink or red after prolonged cultivation.
