YPD Agar Medium

The YPD series media belong to rich media and can also be referred to as complete media. YPD medium is composed of selected peptone, yeast extract, and glucose mixed in appropriate proportions. YPDA medium is YPD medium supplemented with an appropriate amount of adenine sulfate. YPD Agar and YPDA Agar are YPD and YPDA media with added agar, used as solid media for plating. The YPD series media are used for the routine cultivation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. YPDA medium is based on YPD medium with the addition of an appropriate amount of adenine sulfate, which can prevent yeast strains containing ADE1 and ADE2 mutant alleles (such as Y2HGold, AH109, and Y187) from turning pink or red after long-term cultivation.
