Minimal SM Base

Minimal SM Base is composed of ammonium sulfate, trace elements, and maltose mixed in proportion, and it is considered an incomplete medium. It provides the basic substances required for the survival of wild-type yeast but does not contain the amino acids essential for mutant strains. This medium needs to be used in conjunction with DO-type amino acid deficiencies to confirm the defects of yeast or to screen for positive transformants. However, in some experiments, it is necessary to choose a medium with different carbon sources depending on the promoter used in the vector.
