Cefotaxime sodium salt

Cefotaxime sodium salt is a semi-synthetic third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic/antimicrobial agent. It acts by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) to inhibit the final transpeptidation step in peptidoglycan synthesis, thereby blocking peptidoglycan formation and affecting the normal synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, ultimately causing bacterial lysis through autolysins. Cefotaxime has broad-spectrum activity, significantly affecting most Gram-negative bacteria except Pseudomonas, as well as most Gram-positive cocci except enterococci. Cefotaxime is not toxic to plant cells, making it commonly used in Agrobacterium-mediated transformation experiments to control bacterial growth, and it can also be used in combination with vancomycin. The commonly effective concentration is 50-500 mg/mL. Antimycin A (1 mg/mL, sterile).
