Temectin consists of Ticarcillin Sodium and Clavulanate Potassium. Based on effective acid content, the ratio of Ticarcillin Sodium to Clavulanate Potassium is 15:1. Ticarcillin is a penicillin-class bactericidal agent, while Clavulanate is a potent irreversible β-lactamase inhibitor. Various Gram-positive (G+) and Gram-negative (G-) bacteria can produce β-lactamases, which can destroy penicillin before it acts on pathogens. Clavulanate restores Ticarcillin's effectiveness by blocking the β-lactamase defense mechanism of bacteria. Potassium Clavulanate alone has minimal antibacterial activity, but when combined with Ticarcillin, it becomes a broad-spectrum bactericidal antibiotic suitable for empirical treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections. In scientific research, this reagent is often used to inhibit the growth of Agrobacterium, especially in embryogenic callus regeneration systems, achieving good antibacterial and regenerative effects. Commonly used concentrations are 300 mg/L, 400 mg/L, or 500 mg/L. To achieve optimal results, it is recommended to set up 3 to 5 concentration gradients.
