King's Medium Without L-Tryptophan
King's Medium Without L-Tryptophan
King's medium without L-tryptophan is a commonly used medium for microbial culture and functional studies. It is based on carbon sources, nitrogen sources, and inorganic salts for basic nutrition and does not contain L-tryptophan, a precursor for indole acetic acid synthesis. It is mainly used in comparison with similar media containing L-tryptophan, to help verify the ability of microorganisms to synthesize indole acetic acid on their own, or to solely culture microorganisms that do not rely on this precursor. Strict aseptic techniques are required during use to ensure accurate culture and experimental results.
