NZYM Medium
Growth of NZYM broth E. coli strain and amplification of lambda phage. E. coli cells grow rapidly in this medium because the cells do not need to synthesize amino acids, vitamins, and other growth factors. Casein peptone provides peptides and amino acids. Yeast extract provides vitamins, nucleic acids, and carbohydrates. Sodium chloride maintains osmotic balance, and magnesium sulfate provides magnesium ions for many important enzymatic reactions.
