N-endo medium (m-endo)

M- Endo's medium is a standard medium for detecting coliform bacteria in water by membrane filtration, and it is an improved formula of classic Endo's agar. Its selectivity comes from magenta and sulfite, which can effectively inhibit miscellaneous bacteria. The key additives are agar and phenylaldehyde, the former is convenient for fixing colonies, and the latter can enhance the luster of typical colonies. The coliform colonies that ferment lactose to produce acid are dark red and have obvious metallic luster; Non-fermented colonies are colorless. This culture medium is specially designed for membrane filtration technology, and it is an international general method for qualitative and quantitative coliforms in water quality hygiene monitoring.
