Lactose monensin glucuronic acid agar
Lactose monensin glucuronic acid agar
Lactomonensin glucuronic acid agar is a highly selective identification medium, which is specially used for the detection of Escherichia coli producing ESBLs in food and environmental samples. Its selectivity mainly depends on monensin, which can strongly inhibit gram-positive bacteria and some negative bacteria. The identification is based on the fact that the target bacteria can ferment lactose at the same time (producing acid to make the colony yellow) and produce ¦Â -glucuronidase (decomposing X-Gluc to produce blue precipitate), so the typical colony is blue center and yellow halo. The culture medium can efficiently screen Escherichia coli expressing specific ¦Â -glucuronidase for food safety risk monitoring.
