Deoxycholic acid citrate lactose sucrose agar
Deoxycholic acid citrate lactose sucrose agar
Deoxycholic acid citrate lactose sucrose agar (DCLS Agar) is a weakly selective identification medium, which is mainly used for the separation of intestinal pathogenic bacteria, especially Salmonella and Shigella. Its selectivity depends on deoxycholate and citrate, and it can moderately inhibit gram-positive bacteria and some coliforms. The culture medium contains lactose and sucrose as identification basis, and neutral red is used as indicator. The colonies (such as Escherichia coli) that ferment sugar to produce acid are red and surrounded by precipitation circles; Pathogens that do not ferment sugar (such as Salmonella) form colorless or pale pink transparent colonies. The culture medium is suitable for primary screening of clinical specimens such as feces.
