M-Hidden Broth is a selective enrichment medium for detecting Salmonella in food and environment. Selenite and bile salts in its components can effectively inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli and other miscellaneous bacteria, and provide a superior proliferation environment for Salmonella. Peptone and lactose contained in the culture medium provide necessary nutrients. Salmonella produces acid in the metabolic process, which reduces the pH of the culture medium and causes the phenol red indicator to change from red to yellow, which is a typical positive reaction feature. This culture medium is a key initial enrichment step in multi-step screening and detection of Salmonella, which can effectively improve the detection rate of subsequent separation and culture.
