Minimal Salts Glycerol Glutamate Medium
Minimal Salts Glycerol Glutamate Medium
The minimal salts glycerol glutamate (MSgg) medium produced by Puint is a liquid medium specifically designed to assess the biofilm-forming ability of Bacillus species. After being sterilized by filtration, it can be used directly. MSgg medium can promote biofilm formation in most Bacillus species. A biofilm refers to a large mass of microbial cells (such as Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus aureus) that adhere to non-living or living surfaces (MSgg medium) or secrete large amounts of polysaccharides, proteins, and nucleic acids to form an uneven extracellular matrix, encapsulating the cells. This represents a common survival state of microbes in nature. Common forms of biofilms include solid biofilms, liquid biofilms, and cell aggregates. MSgg medium can facilitate the formation of biofilms used for characterization or quantification. The biofilms formed on solid or liquid microplate MSgg medium can be used for research such as large-scale mutant library screening and identification of biofilm-related genes.
