Cardiac immersion agar

Heart infusion agar is a kind of non-selective medium with rich nutrition, which is based on bovine heart infusion, supplemented by peptone and sodium chloride. It is characterized by not containing carbohydrates and inhibitors, and can support the vigorous growth of various fastidious bacteria and microorganisms with high nutritional requirements (such as streptococcus and pneumococcus). This culture medium is not used for direct identification, but is widely used for resuscitation culture, proliferation and passage of bacteria and enrichment of blood culture samples. Because it can provide rich growth factors such as vitamins, amino acids and nucleotides, it is an ideal basic medium for preparing pure culture before drug sensitivity test, hemolysis observation and other biochemical tests.
