EEM medium
EEM medium is a liquid medium for selective enrichment of pathogenic enterobacteria (such as pathogenic Escherichia coli), which is mainly used according to Japanese standards. Its formula contains tryptone and D- mannitol to provide carbon and nitrogen sources and energy, and the phosphate buffer system maintains pH stability, while high concentration of bovine bile salt and brilliant green can effectively inhibit the growth of Gram-positive bacteria and non-intestinal flora, thus selectively proliferating the target bacteria. The culture medium was prepared by steam sterilization at 100℃ for 30 minutes without autoclaving. It is mainly used for the preliminary enrichment culture of intestinal pathogenic bacteria in food, water quality and other samples, providing a basis for subsequent separation and identification.
