Honda's toxic broth

Honda's toxin-producing broth is a special liquid medium for enhancing the toxin-producing ability of intestinal pathogenic bacteria (such as Shigella and some Escherichia coli). Its formula contains tryptone and yeast extract powder to provide rich nutrition, and trypsin and a small amount of Tween -80 are specially added. The former can activate the expression of toxin-producing genes of bacteria, and the latter is helpful to the release and stability of toxins. The medium itself does not have strong selectivity, so it usually needs to be selectively enriched before being transplanted here. The supernatant obtained after culture can be directly used to detect bacterial toxins (such as Vero cytotoxicity test), which is an important tool for the toxicity research and diagnosis of pathogenic bacteria.
