Buffered protein water (BPW)

Buffered Peptone Water (BPW) is a widely used basic medium, mainly used as a non-selective pre-enrichment solution for the resuscitation and proliferation of damaged salmonella and other pathogenic bacteria. Peptone in its components provides nitrogen source, vitamins and growth factors; Phosphate buffer system can stably maintain a neutral pH environment, effectively neutralize the acid or alkaline stress that the sample (such as food) may carry, and ensure the repair of damaged cells. The culture medium does not inhibit miscellaneous bacteria, and its core purpose is to maximize the number of viable bacteria of the target bacteria, which lays the foundation for the subsequent selective enrichment and separation steps, and is the first step in the international standard process of salmonella detection (such as ISO 6579).
