MM liquid medium is a type of chemically defined liquid synthetic medium that contains only the nutrients essential for microbial growth. Its core characteristics are 'minimal redundancy and high controllability.' It does not include complex natural nutrients such as yeast extract or peptone, providing only a carbon source, nitrogen source, essential inorganic salts, and trace elements. This allows precise control of individual nutrient variables and is widely used for studying microbial metabolic mechanisms, gene function verification, and standardized cultivation. It is used as a medium for Agrobacterium transformation.
