Soybean tryptone broth (containing iron sulfite)
Soybean tryptone broth (containing iron sulfite)
Soybean tryptone broth (containing iron sulfite) is an improved fluid thioglycolate culture medium, which is specially used for the control of anaerobic bacteria in the microbial limit test of drugs, especially for the detection of strict anaerobic bacteria such as Clostridium sporogenes. Its foundation-soybean tryptone broth provides rich nutrition and supports the growth of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria; As an indicator system, iron sulfite (ferrous sulfate), a key additive, will react with iron ions in the broth to produce insoluble black iron sulfide precipitate when anaerobic bacteria (such as Clostridium sporogenes) grow and metabolize to produce hydrogen sulfide. This culture medium can judge the growth of anaerobic bacteria by observing black precipitate, which is one of the standard detection methods stipulated in Pharmacopoeia.
