Salmonella Shigella enrichment solution

Salmonella Shigella enrichment solution (SS enrichment solution) is a liquid culture medium for the simultaneous proliferation of Salmonella and Shigella. It adopts a mild selective inhibition strategy, and the main inhibitors are bile salts and brilliant green, aiming at moderately inhibiting the overgrowth of non-pathogenic intestinal bacteria such as Escherichia coli, and at the same time providing opportunities for recovery and proliferation of salmonella and Shigella that may be damaged. This culture medium is usually used as a direct enrichment step of samples (such as feces), and then transferred to Xeon selective plates (such as SS agar and XLD agar) for separation after culture. Because Shigella is more delicate, its proliferation effect in SS enrichment solution may not be as good as that of Salmonella, so this culture medium is more widely used in Salmonella detection.
