Foundation of selenite brilliant green enrichment solution
Foundation of selenite brilliant green enrichment solution
Selenium brilliant green enrichment solution is a liquid culture medium for selective enrichment of Salmonella, especially suitable for the detection of feces and food samples. Its selectivity is based on the synergistic bacteriostatic effect of sodium selenite and brilliant green, which can effectively inhibit the growth of non-target bacteria such as coliform bacteria and gram-positive bacteria, and provide a superior breeding environment for Salmonella. Peptone and lactose in the culture medium provide necessary nutrients for the recovery and proliferation of the target bacteria. The culture medium needs to be cultured at 35-37℃ for 12-24 hours after inoculation, during which sodium selenite is reduced by bacteria to produce red selenium, so the culture time should not be too long. After this enrichment treatment, the detection rate of Salmonella on subsequent separation plates (such as SS agar) can be significantly improved, which is a key enrichment step in the detection of intestinal pathogens.
