Brilliant green broth enrichment solution is a liquid culture medium for selective enrichment of Salmonella, especially suitable for the detection of food and environmental samples. Its selectivity mainly depends on the brilliant green dye, which can effectively inhibit the growth of most gram-positive bacteria and common non-salmonella such as Escherichia coli. Peptone and beef paste in the culture medium provide basic nutrients, while lactose serves as fermentable sugar. Salmonella usually does not ferment lactose, but can proliferate in it. If mixed bacteria ferment lactose to produce acid, it will be inhibited by pH drop and bright green effect. After inoculation, the samples were cultured at 43℃ for 18-24 hours, which could further enhance the selectivity. After this enrichment, the isolation rate of Salmonella on subsequent selective plates (such as HE and XLD agar) can be greatly improved, which is an important part of the relevant detection standard methods.
