10% sodium chloride tryptone soybean broth
10% sodium chloride tryptone soybean broth
10% sodium chloride tryptone soybean broth is a highly selective enrichment liquid medium, which is mainly used to detect pathogenic Staphylococcus in food and environmental samples, especially Staphylococcus aureus. Its high selectivity comes from the concentration of sodium chloride as high as 10%, which can effectively inhibit the growth of most non-salt-tolerant bacteria, while salt-tolerant microorganisms such as Staphylococcus aureus can proliferate normally. The culture medium is based on nutrient-rich tryptone and soybean papain digest, which provides sufficient nitrogen source, vitamins and minerals for the rapid recovery and growth of target bacteria. After inoculation, the samples are usually cultured at 35-37℃ for 24-48 hours. By creating a hypertonic environment, the culture medium significantly improves the sensitivity of separating target bacteria from complex samples, which is an important enrichment step before the subsequent separation plate (such as Baird-Parker agar) streaking or enterotoxin detection.
