3% sodium chloride alkaline peptone water
3% sodium chloride alkaline peptone water
3% sodium chloride alkaline peptone water is a liquid medium for selective enrichment of Vibrio cholerae and other halophilic vibrios. Its 3% sodium chloride concentration meets the halophilic demand of Vibrio and inhibits non-halophilic bacteria. Alkaline pH (about 8.6-9.0) can further inhibit most intestinal flora, while Vibrio can grow well. Peptone in the culture medium provides necessary nitrogen source, carbon source and vitamins. After the sample is inoculated, it can be cultured at 35-37℃ for 6-8 hours, which can make a small amount of Vibrio in the sample proliferate rapidly, thus significantly improving the detection rate of subsequent separation steps (such as TCBS agar streaking). This culture medium is a key enrichment step in the standard process of Vibrio cholerae detection in water, seafood and clinical specimens.
