3% sodium chloride tryptone soybean agar
3% sodium chloride tryptone soybean agar
3% sodium chloride tryptone soy agar (TSAS) is a universal solid medium with rich nutrition and added with 3% sodium chloride, which is specially used to cultivate halophilic or halotolerant microorganisms, especially Vibrio bacteria. It is based on nutrient-rich tryptone and soybean papain digest, providing sufficient nitrogen source, vitamins and amino acids; High concentration of sodium chloride simulates the marine environment, which can not only meet the growth demand of Vibrio, but also inhibit the growth of most non-halophilic bacteria. This culture medium does not have strong selectivity, but provides good conditions for the recovery and growth of suspected Vibrio isolated from aquatic products and environmental samples. It is often used for strain purification, expanded culture and as a basic culture medium for subsequent biochemical identification experiments.
