Succinate Dehydrogenase (SDH) Assay Kit
Succinate Dehydrogenase (SDH) Assay Kit
Succinate Dehydrogenase (SDH, EC 1.3.5.1) is widely present in animals, plants, microorganisms, and cultured cells. It is a marker enzyme of mitochondria, a membrane-bound enzyme located on the inner mitochondrial membrane, and one of the hubs connecting respiratory electron transport and oxidative phosphorylation. In addition, it provides electrons for the respiratory chains that generate energy in various prokaryotic cells. SDH catalyzes the dehydrogenation of succinate to form fumarate. The hydrogen removed is transferred via phenazine methosulfate (PMS) to reduce 2,6-dichlorophenolindophenol (DCPIP). DCPIP has a characteristic absorption peak at 600 nm. The activity of SDH is represented by measuring the reduction rate of 2,6-DCPIP through the change in absorbance at 600 nm.
