T1N3 broth

T1N3 broth is a liquid medium for selective enrichment of Vibrio cholerae. Its name directly reflects the core formula: "T1" refers to 1% tryptone, which provides basic nutrition; "N3" represents 3% sodium chloride, which constitutes a high salt environment. This specific salt concentration can significantly inhibit the growth of most non-halophilic bacteria, and Vibrio cholerae can proliferate well in it, thus achieving selective enrichment. This culture medium is often used in combination with alkaline peptone water, or for the resuscitation culture of Vibrio cholerae in a specific sample (such as food). After 6-8 hours of culture, the bacterial liquid is transferred to a separation plate (such as TCBS agar) for further identification. It is an important tool for increasing bacteria in cholera monitoring and food hygiene inspection.
