Bound Starch Synthase (GBSS) Detection Kit
Bound Starch Synthase (GBSS) Detection Kit
GBSS (EC 2.4.1.21) exists in a bound state in amyloplasts, catalyzing the elongation reaction of starch chains and being mainly responsible for the synthesis of amylose. GBSS catalyzes the reaction between ADPG and starch primers (glucans), transferring glucose molecules to the starch primers while generating ADP. Further, with the addition of pyruvate kinase, hexokinase, and 6-phosphoglucose dehydrogenase in the reaction system, NADP+ is sequentially catalyzed to be reduced to NADPH. The amount of NADPH generated is proportional to the amount of ADP produced in the previous reaction step. The activity of GBSS can be calculated by measuring the increase in NADPH at 340 nm.
