Sodium chloride blood agar base
Sodium chloride blood agar base is a kind of blood agar medium with high concentration of sodium chloride (usually 3%-7%), which is mainly used for the separation and hemolysis determination of halophilic or halotolerant pathogens (especially Vibrio parahaemolyticus). Its basic components provide nutrition, and high sodium chloride concentration can inhibit the growth of non-halophilic bacteria, so as to screen Vibrio preliminarily. After adding defibrinated sheep blood or rabbit blood, it can not only be used to observe colony morphology and hemolysis (such as β hemolysis of Vibrio parahaemolyticus), but also be used to prepare my wife's agar to detect "Kanagawa phenomenon". This culture medium is an important tool for isolating and identifying pathogenic Vibrio in aquaculture disease diagnosis, seafood safety inspection and clinical pathogen detection.
