Service Introduction

Specifically designed for screening and validating cobalt transport proteins, based on the principle of yeast heterologous complementation. It includes a cobalt transport-deficient strain Δycf1, pYES2 vector, and cobalt-containing or cobalt-free media. The deficient strain grows normally in a cobalt-free environment. After transforming the target gene, the active protein can transport a large amount of cobalt into the cells, inhibiting the growth of the strain. This system excludes interference from other metals and is suitable for preliminary screening, validation of transport proteins, and cobalt metabolism research.

Service Advantages

▶Can detect whether the protein has cobalt ion uptake and transport activity, simple and efficient.

▶Our company has all the reagents, strains, and vectors needed for cobalt ion transport activity detection.

Applicable Fields

▶Function identification of cobalt transport protein: The identification of the in vivo transport function of candidate cobalt transport protein genes from plants, microorganisms, and, and the clarification of whether the target gene has the core activity of mediating the transmembrane absorption of cobalt ions, is a key technical means for gene function verification.

▶Plant stress physiology research: Analyze the role of cobalt transport proteins in maintaining intracellular cobalt ion homeostasis in crops under stress conditions such as cobalt deficiency and heavy metal stress; screen for crop genes that tolerate low cobalt or utilize cobalt efficiently, providing targets for nutrient-efficient breeding.

▶Mechanism analysis of microbial cadmium metabolism: Study the cadmium transport system of bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms, and the regulatory mechanism of cadmium transport proteins in microbial adaptation to cadmium-deficient environment and maintenance of enzyme activity.

▶Functional screening of cobalt transport protein mutants/variants: Conduct functional verification of different mutants and allelic variants of cobalt transport proteins, assess the impact of amino acid site mutations on transport activity, and support research on the protein structure-function relationship.
