THL (EC 3.2.1.28) is widely distributed in animals, plants, microorganisms, and cultured cells. main function of trehalases is to decompose trehalose in organisms into glucose for direct energy supply. THL can catalyze the production of glucose from trehalose, oxidase catalyzes the oxidation of glucose into gluconic acid, and hydrogen peroxide is produced; peroxidase catalyzes the oxidation of hydrogen peroxide to4-aminoantipyrine coupled phenol, which produces a colored compound with a characteristic absorption peak at 505 nm, thus reflecting THL activity.
