Buffered Listeria Enrichment Broth Foundation (BLEB)

Buffered Listeria Enrichment Broth Base (BLEB) is a special culture medium for selective enrichment of Listeria monocytogenes, especially for the detection of Listeria monocytogenes. Its key feature is that it contains phosphate buffer system, which can effectively neutralize the acidity of samples (such as dairy products and meat) and acidic substances produced by bacterial metabolism, maintain the pH stability of the culture environment, and avoid the death of Listeria monocytogenes due to acid stress in the early growth stage. The culture medium also contains growth factors such as pyridoxal to promote its reproduction, and selective inhibitors (such as nalidixic acid and acridine yellow) are added to inhibit miscellaneous bacteria. BLEB is the recommended culture medium for Listeria enrichment in international standard methods, which is widely used in microbial monitoring of food safety.
