Modified EC Broth (mEC+n) is a special culture medium for selective enrichment of Escherichia coli O157:H7 in food. On the basis of EC broth, neomycin was added to inhibit gram-positive bacteria and improve the selectivity of target bacteria. Its ingredients include tryptone and lactose to provide nutrition, bile salt to inhibit the growth of miscellaneous bacteria, and sodium chloride to maintain osmotic pressure. High temperature culture at 42℃ can further inhibit the background flora and realize efficient enrichment of Escherichia coli O157:H7. It is suitable for the detection of meat, dairy products and other samples, with remarkable sensitivity and specificity, and is the key pre-enrichment medium in food safety detection.
