Yeast surface display (YSD) is a eukaryotic protein expression system. Its principle involves fusing the gene of an exogenous target protein with a specific vector gene sequence and introducing it into yeast cells. The yeast cellular protein transport mechanism is then used to express the target protein and localize it on the yeast cell surface. Yeast surface display provides an alternative to other display technologies, such as phage display and bacterial surface display.
