The concept of soil organic carbon (SOC) refers to the carbon content in humus, animal and plant residues and microorganisms formed by microbial action, that is, soil organic carbon (SOC).

Soil organic carbon is divided into easily decomposable organic carbon, difficult-to-decompose organic carbon and inert organic carbon according to the degree of microbial availability. The easy decomposer has a higher bioavailability and loss rate, while the difficult decomposer has a higher residue rate, generally accounting for 60%~80% of soil organic matter. And a considerable part participates in the formation of humus.

Organic carbon photometry is to use ferrous sulfate as the standard solution, change the titration method of the volumetric method to the photometric method, and carry out the determination of soil organic matter at 585 nm.
