Soil nitrite reductase is one of the key enzymes in denitrification, which participates in the reduction reaction of nitrite to NO, and its activity reflects the conversion efficiency of nitrogen in the process of biodegradation, providing a certain basis for the study of nitrogen conversion law.

Nitrite reductase can reduce NO2 to NO, which reduces NO2 in the sample to produce purple-red compounds, that is, the change of absorbance value at 540 nm can reflect the activity of nitrite reductase in soil.
