Trypsin Soy Sheep Blood Agar Base (TSSB)
Trypsin Soy Sheep Blood Agar Base (TSSB)
Trypsin Soy Sheep Blood Agar Base (TSSB) is a nutrient-rich identification medium commonly used in microbial detection, and its core is used to cultivate bacteria with high nutritional requirements (such as Streptococcus and Listeria), and preliminarily identify strains through hemolysis reaction. Its formula is based on tryptone and soybean peptone, which can provide sufficient nitrogen source and growth factor for bacteria. The key is to add defibrinated sheep blood to meet the growth demand of fastidious bacteria. This culture medium can distinguish strains by observing hemolysis phenomenon, such as β-hemolysis (complete hemolysis around the colony, transparent circle) and α-hemolysis (partial hemolysis, grass green circle), which is widely used in microbial separation and identification of food and clinical samples, and is an important tool for detecting heterotrophic pathogens.
