Glucose peptone agar
Glucose tryptone agar is a special culture medium for identification and morphological observation of actinomycetes, especially for the cultivation and classification of Streptomyces and other strains. Its basic components include nitrogen source, vitamins and amino acids provided by casein, glucose as carbon source and energy source, and agar as coagulant. This culture medium can well support the growth of actinomycetes and promote the formation of aerial hyphae and spore chains, which is convenient for researchers to observe the typical morphological characteristics of colonies, pigment production and preliminary physiological and biochemical identification. It is a common tool in microbial taxonomy and antibiotic screening research.
