Liquefied GYE agar medium

Liquefied GYE agar medium is a selective medium for detecting and counting microorganisms, especially molds and yeasts. Its basic components include glucose, yeast extract and peptone, which are used as carbon source, vitamin and nitrogen source respectively, and antibiotics such as chloramphenicol are added to effectively inhibit the growth of bacteria. The culture medium further optimizes the selectivity to fungi through a lower pH environment, so that mold and yeast can form characteristic colonies for easy counting and observation, and is widely used in hygienic microbial inspection and quality control of food, cosmetics and drugs.
